Style of Music:
Kathy Greenholdt writes folk-rock songs that pull you inside the mysteries of her — and your — daily existence, offering up secrets from life in the Midwest. (In the tradition of Neko Case, Alela Diane, Sam Phillips, and Martha Wainwright)

Story Behind the Music:
Kathy was rejected when she auditioned for the concert choir in high school. She became a true musical late-bloomer when, at age 38, she learned to play guitar and wrote her first song. In the eight years since then, she has gone on to write and record four critically-praised albums.

Recent Highlights:
• Richard Milne, host of WXRT-Chicago’s "Local Anesthetic," featured the Lowly Violet album as one of the best new releases by a local woman songwriter.

• "Summer’s Through" from the Wake-Up Prayer EP was featured by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 2 and selected as the focus of a listener call-in contest.

• Kathy’s music was chosen for Females on Fire, Vol. 3, a compilation album showcasing women songwriters from around the world (produced by Gilli Moon and Warrior Girl Music, Los Angeles).

• In 2008, Kathy had her first song accepted into a music library. She established her independent publishing company, Bindweed Music, in 2009.
